Successful Seedlings

This morning while I was soaking up those last few glorious minutes of sleep, I could feel the warmth of the sun of my back as it was shining through the window. I love spring; I love the fact that everyday gets a little bit longer and that the sun rises earlier. This morning the sun was definitely daring me to grab my shoes and start the day off right. And so I did.

I ran a little over 3 miles and it felt great. I just love taking off out my back door and running through the endless farm fields. Most of the time when I run I chose to not take music and just enjoy the peace and quiet. However lately, when I have to do longer runs I’ve been getting bored without music. So over the next few weeks I am going to try to build an awesome playlist to run too. What is your favorite music to work out too? Does anyone know of cool playlist websites out there?? This girl needs some music help!
Another reason why spring is awesome is because it is the start of gardening season! My seedlings got transplanted from the rapid rooter mat to their own little pots. The light that I have is only two feet long and that doesn’t fit all the plants at once. I have broken the veggies and flowers into three different groups and they go under the light for 8hr periods and also sit in sun light for 8 hours. I will be planting them outside in just two more weeks! I can’t wait to see the final results!

Friends

When I was growing up whenever me and my family would go out to eat I always a big meal and then end up never finishing it (thank goodness for doggie bags and leftovers). My Dad has always said that my eyes are bigger in than my tummy; I feel like this also relates to my life. I have a huge appetite for life and everything that comes along with it, family, friends, school, training, work, housework- I love it all. I love having a full load and being busy all the time but that can’t go without saying that managing all of that isn’t always easy.
There are definitely areas in my life that I have been neglected or I haven’t put as much effort in. My girlfriend friend Ashlea introduced me to the blog Enjoying the small things  and to her book Bloom (If you haven’t read it, you should put it on your reading list). In her book Bloom, she goes through a life trauma and talks about how she was able to be happy and live through it. She says that she wouldn’t have made it through without her “net” of family and friends. After reading that book I started thinking a lot about my net and who has been there with me through the good and the bad throughout my life and that is when I realized; I have seriously neglected my friends.
I have great friends that have been with my through thick and thin. I have some of the best friends a girl could have. I have so many funny memories made with them that whenever I think about them I can’t help but to burst out laughing. I am so happy that I got to grow up with those girls because the experiences that we had together shaped us into the women we are today. After years of distance, it is easy to let time go by without getting in touch and I want to change that.
I feel like the last couple years we have been so busy raising our baby, building our family and going to school that we have let some of our friendships dwindle. When you are newlyweds and brand new parents all at once, it is hard not to get lost it the safe haven and the comfort of your home. After soaking up nine months of newly wedded bliss we decided that we both missed our friends and decided that it was time to venture out and repair our neglected “nets”.
I truly believe that friendships are so important to make life full and happy. I want to raise my baby in a village surrounded by love and security. I think that it is so important for parents to make time for friendships; it is important to have time to be able to connect with friends and build lasting relationships. I am so excited to see the fun that we will both have when we make more time for our friends.
Trent started it out with a bang, of course, by going to Supercross with his best friend Trevor in Seattle over the last weekend. They were both excited to hang out and go to the big city. I mean who could say no to any trip to Seattle- we love that city. Trent’s Dad was into racing motocross and so I’m sure that brought up lots of cherished memories for him. I am so glad he got to go experience it and hang with his bestie.
Do you know what this means? GIRL TRIP! You better believe there is a grand plan in the works. I am looking forward to strengthening all my friendships with the women that got me to where I am today. I love them all so much and I want to give some of the love back that they have been giving me over the years. I also think this calls for stationary and snail mail.
Stay tuned.

Friday Letter's

April 19th 2013

Dear You- Thank you for taking time out of your precious day to read my thoughts. You are so kind.
Dear Boston- As I sit down on this rainy morning to write one of my favorite blog posts I can’t help but to be lost in thought of you. My heart goes out to each of the families that are currently locked inside their homes in fear of every car that drives down the street. When I was watching the news this morning, they said they were going to show images of the suspects and as I sat there in anticipation of the monster that I might see wondering what they were going to look like, they were shown. Two Caucasian males in everyday clothes and they are allegedly  responsible for the tragedy that took place at the Boston marathon.  My heart breaks for those families that are in fear of everyone around them that they are so afraid. I am sending you my heart Boston, for all of yours who have been broken, who have seen and endured terrible things. I am praying that you will find comfort and that soon the suspects will be found.
Dear Boston Marathoners- First of all, if you completed the marathon you deserve a standing ovation. I believe that anyone who runs 26.2 miles deserves a standing ovation. Secondly I can’t imagine what it must have been like to finish or even be part of such a tragedy like this. After all the months of planning and preparing and to have it all end like this. Reading the papers and watching the news about everyone being lost from their families and split up, and now people being forced to stay inside their houses and not to open the door unless it is the police, it absolutely heart wrenching. I pray that you are all safe wherever you may be and that you are finding comfort in something.
Dear Fellow marathon hopefuls- As some of you may know I am training for the Chicago Marathon in October and after hearing what happened with the Boston Marathon some of my family members and friends were beginning to worry about it. After hearing about what happened I never thought about stepping down and not running because something terrible could happen. I completely understood their worries and fears but reminded them that that is no way to live- we can’t become afraid of life. After I choosing to put my faith in God, I am not afraid of life or what COULD happen. I know that God will protect me and that whenever this life ends, I will be in heaven and I know that I am not afraid of that.  I will continue to train and prepare for my marathon and let God worry about what is going to happen. After finding out this sad sad news did you rethink your marathon? Or maybe even a trip to a big city? What did you use to calm your fears?

Making morning workouts happen!

I was on my high school dance team and we had EARLY practice (545 to be exact). After years of doing that I fell in love with working out first thing in the morning. I just love starting my day off right AND getting my work out out of the way. Sometimes waiting around for a long work out seems more tiring then the work out itself!

After a couple years of waking up early to work out it becomes a sport in itself. You see, I am an excuse maker, ESPECIALLY IN THE AM. So what do I do to keep myself from hiding under the covers and sleeping instead? I prepare, prepare, prepare for my excuses. Here are a few tips that make my morning workout outs WAY EASIER to get up for.

1. I go to bed at a DESCENT time, 930-10.
2. I sleep in my work out clothes and a put a sweater and my shoes by the bed. I put them on the second I wake up.
3. I fill my bag with the things I will be taking the night before, and chill some water bottles in fridge.
4. Run outta the house as fast as I can before I come up with anymore excuses not to go!

Morning cardio isn't always the easiest thing no matter how much I prepare. This morning, Sarah and I went up the Northwest side of Badger Mountain and it was tough for me. My lower back is really sore so it was brutal. I am still so so glad that I got up and got out there. Now I am in a better mood and ready to attack my day. Since I have been traveling the last couple of days, today I will be putting myself in lock down. I may or may not have TONS of homework to catch up on ;)

Palouse Falls- Washington

What I love the most about this waterfall is it’s completely unexpected in the middle of a desert. Right when you walk up you can hear it roaring and you become immediately captivated by its beauty. The weather wasn’t as warm as we had hoped but at least it didn’t rain. Sarah and I hiked along one of the outside ridges; we held our breathes as we reached out and took pictures of it all.

We had a great time and a good hike. I love being in wide open spaces and that place is just beautiful. I also believe that it is so important to get outside and do a physical activity. It is a major part in taking care of yourself and a great way to rebuild energy. I believe that it is especially important for Mom’s to get out there and get your work out on, not only will it help you physically but mentally too. Those energy booster’s and the endorphins that come from working out are what get me through the day! It is so important to take that time away for yourself and do that! Even if it means getting up a little bit earlier, you will thank yourself in the end!
I love any reason to be outside enjoying the weather and absolutely love hiking. There is a library opening a couple blocks away from me on Saturday and you better believe I’m checking out some hiking books!
I hope everyone had a wonderful day today. Good night.

Weekend Shenaigans

I can't believe it's Monday already; is it just me or is April in fast forward? The weekend flew by like most do but it was filled with life, love and laughter. We got to take a road trip my home town and spend the day with my family. My Grandpa went to heaven recently and that's why we went to visit- to celebrate his life and that we did. I will always carry him in my heart but we will be reunited in Heaven one day. After festivities ended, we were on the our next adventure. We went to map out were I will be hiking today, so we made a detour to my favorite waterfall, Palouse Falls

We got home late Saturday night and spent much of the day Sunday cuddling, reading, and doing homework. It was going to be a beautiful sun set so my friend Sarah and I hiked up the mountain in hopes of snapping some awesome pictures and at the very least getting an awesome butt work out.  I think we accomplished both!
Spring rain

We had such a great hike last night and once the sun went down it got cold! This afternoon her and I are going to hike Palouse Falls so we can look down the waterfall! I hope that everyone had a great weekend! Today I am linking up with Sami's weekend shenaigans
