Road Trip!

Our trip started out just as most do, running around getting packed, making multiple trips back home after realizing we left something behind and stopping for coffee (ALWAYS coffee). We were only fifteen minutes past our leaving deadline which in our family is a small victory; we are late to everything it’s sad but true. We were all loaded up in our new car and ready for an adventure.

We were headed to my home town Lewiston, Idaho. This is a route that I have taken back and forth for over ten years. These photographs that a took are of places that are embedded in my soul. I love driving through beautiful open farm land. I couldn’t wait to enjoy the drive I knew so well with my boys; they make everything more fun.

My Mom, Grandma and me. So happy we all got to be together on this day to celebrate the beautiful life that my Grandpa created amongst his friends and our family. My family is going through some hard times right now but I believe that in the near future we will all be together again celebrating life and enjoying what is most important- each other.
Every time I swear I couldn’t be more in love with Trent, he does something that makes me fall head over heels for him all over again. He has impeccable timing; he is so quick to tell a joke that he makes any situation light and fun. I was so grateful to have both of my boys beside me for the final celebration of my Grandpa.
After saying our good byes and hugging my Grandma as many times as I could, we packed up and headed to my all-time favorite burger joint. When I was growing up I loved going to Sharp’s; the best part is the kids get to sit on saddles. Yee-haw! You better believe this Mama was excited to finally put her pumpkin on one of those saddles. He loved it!!

Until his food came, food comes before everything for my little man and he was ready to eat! They are famous for their own “secret sauce” and Terrance loved it. His new favorite thing is dipping is food in sauce and man did he love that sauce. I finally had to intervene when he was attempting to drink it. Trent loved the sauce too and bought us a bottle to bring home.

On the way home we wanted to see some different scenery so we went an alternate route; we headed towards Palouse Falls.
About 45 minutes after we took our exit we ran into this...
That my friends is what living in a desert gets you. I have had my fair share of crazy tumbleweed encounters but this my friends tops it all. It was a gigantic tumbleweed barrier but we didn’t want to turn around or scratch our new car by blowing through them. So Trent grabbed his work gloves and dug out a path for us to drive through.
Trent always saves the day and makes us laugh the whole way through it and that is just what he did. We made it through the tumbleweed wall and got to the waterfall on the otherside and it was amazing. This is where me and my friend Sarah will be hiking tomorrow.

We had a great trip and covered about 300 miles. It was really great to see my family and to have an adventure with my boys. But I love being back on the grind.

Have you done your cardio yet?
Let's gooooo!!!

Veggies getting stronger!

My veggies and flowers have been sprouting up quite nicely. Now they have been under a lighting cycle for  over a week, they will be inside absorbing the light and the warmth for 3 more weeks. Then we will transplant them into our garden. This is my first year ever doing this and I can’t believe how easy it is, seriously everyone should do it!

These are cherry tomatoes and big tomatoes. I am SUPER excited to make homemade salsa and pasta sauce with them.

The tall dudes are iceberg lettuce!!!

On this side we are growing a bunch of different colored petunias. I can’t wait to plant all those pretty colors in the front yard.

I know that I am being overly positive and some of them may not grow into what they are meant to be. However I choose to have faith in them; I have faith that they will grow and be yummy and beautiful.
Now me and my little blonde family are off to Idaho. We will be celebrating my Grandpa’s life with all his friends and  our family. I love traveling with my husband, especially road trips.

Happy Saturday!

Skyline Trail; Badger Mountain Hike

We started our weekends off with a BANG; Me and my friend Sarah went for a 4.1 mile hike. We hiked up the Skyline trail of Badger Mountain, which is the Northwest side of the mountain. There are so many things I like about Tri-Cities (the place we call home), one of them being that we live in wine country. By hiking the northwest side of the mountain you can see wineries for miles and miles. It was so beautiful and clear out today; we were even able to see the tippy top of Mount Adams.

Northeast side of Mountain- overlooking Columbia River

We had so much fun today talking and swapping funny stories. We got our work outs outta the way early and we were able to do it outside- my favorite! What work outs do you have planned for the weekend? If you haven't thought that far ahead, you should, even if it's a walk with your friend! With all the endorphins you will get it will be well worth it!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy hiking!

Friday's Letter's (3)

April 12th, 2013

Dear Friday Letter's- I love writing these. I think that Ashley has a great blog and I find her very inspiring. She is definitely one of my daily reads!
Dear Sun- Please, oh PLEASE, be shining and warm on Monday. My friend Sarah and I will be hiking Palouse Falls; I would like to get a great golden tan while doing it! I want to be sun-kissed and blonder. Thanks a million!
Dear Terrance- You are seriously the cutest. I love when you wake up in the morning and need me simply for snuggles. I love that when I am leaving for work at night, you give me a big hug with a few precious pats on my back.  (SO SWEET) You have also started saying “let’s go” all the time. You are always ready for an adventure and I love you for it.
Dear Trent- I can’t wait to go on a road trip with you this weekend. I’m looking forward to showing you around the town I grew up in and spending time with my family. You have been doing so great in school. (I mean really, not one but 3 100% papers, go you SMARTY PANTS) You are working so hard and our future looks so bright because of it. I’m so excited about our lives now and our future to come.
Dear fellow bloggers- Hi guys! I tossed around the idea of starting a blog for about a year. I didn't get the guts until about three months ago. I am so happy that I did. I have been able to talk to and learn from people I would have never got the chance to in “real” life. It is just so inspiring to read peoples stories about how they live their lives and what their day to day activities are. It makes me strive to have a fuller life and also helps me celebrate the small things. MY FAVORITE thing about all of this though, is that one day when I am old an grey I can look back and see my life through the posts and how I grew and changed over the years.
Happy weekend!!!

Morning Hike

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY
Mountain Hike

Farm runs plus one

FARM RUNS

One of my top 5 favorite places to run is out on the farm; I love running in complete solitude. I also love running with my teeny tiny baby. (Ok so he isn’t teeny or tiny but I will still say that forever). When he WAS  a little babe we went during his nap time but now we go the second he wakes up from his morning nap. We have a variety of trails along the different hay fields and it is so beautiful everywhere you look.

There are a few things that I don’t leave behind when I bring T with me; snacks, juice, and a couple toys. He stays occupied with those and singing with me until he has to get out and walk. So we both walk and take turns pushing the stroller. Terrance will play for a while and I will start some work outs.
I’m a firm believer in squats. Over the past couple months I have been doing a variety of squats and love the results I’ve gained thus far. This is the work out I did yesterday:

20 deep squats. (as low as I could go while keeping proper form)
25 jump squats.
25 regular squats

On top of squats I like to splash some lunges in the mix. I like to do 25 on each side.
Yesterday I ran about two miles while pushing Terrance. We both had a great time doing it. I love being outside and spending time with my baby. I also love being a good role model and showing him what it means to be healthy starting at such a young age.

I hope that you all are having a great week! We are halfway to the weekend! I also hope that everyone has plans to get their hearts pumpin! Summer is on the way ;)

Rest up, Drink up

Hello, you.
I absolutely love learning about health and wellness. Recently through my studies, I have been learning about training plans and how to help people achieve their goals. I learned that no matter what goal anyone has set themselves, there are a couple underlining rules that any person who wants to live a healthier life need to follow:

SLEEP: Make it a priority; it is really important.  Adults need to get 7-8 hours a night. In the world we live in today we are constantly filling our schedules and overbooking ourselves; rest is the key to success. Back in January, when I really starting to train hard, I (Trent) started making me go to bed by 9:30 because I was falling asleep on the couch. Once I started getting 8 solid hours of sleep each night I was able to fill our schedule with so many more activities. I wasn’t getting worn out in the day and it also made waking up for morning cardio not so excruciating.  Here is a helpful guide if you're more interested about SNOOZING

Terrance and I the morning after he was born

WATER:  Water is life. Without it there is no life. In our society, we are bombarded by so many different drinking options; you name it and we could probably go find it. People are lacking the most important of all; plain water.  I learned how important water was to my body when I was pregnant with my son. I was about seven months pregnant, so exhausted, constantly getting headaches and nosebleeds. I told my doctor and he said that I need to start drinking a gallon or more of water each day. I did as I was told and all those symptoms went away. I have carried that lesson on and used it in many other situations; now whenever I feel a headache coming on or start feeling a little tired I drink up. If you are starting to work out or want to lose weight drinking a gallon of water a day is the perfect add on!

If you are still reading this you are probably thinking I know, I know. Water and sleep got it. Think again my friend. Do you sleep a solid 8 hours a night?  Do you do that every week? If not I dare you to challenge yourself to one week of early nights; you will accomplish many things that week. While your at it; go fill up a water cup and drink up; here is more benefits about WATER!!!

Cabo !!! Best trip of my life!

I am off to study while my little mister snoozes. Have a great Tuesday!
